Is billing and coding a full program or a short course?

A full program, with its own coursework in ICD-10, claims and electronic health records, and its own internship. If you want the clinical and administrative sides together, look at the Medical Assistant program instead, which covers both.

Will the school place me at Maimonides?

We arrange supervised internships in working medical offices across southern Brooklyn, and we do not promise placement with any particular employer. What the internship gives you is documented experience in a real office, which is what hiring managers at large and small employers both ask to see.

Can I get financial aid for the Medical Office Specialist program?

Pell and New York TAP are available to eligible students in the longer registered programs, and Medical Office Specialist is one of them. Eligibility depends on your own circumstances, so the financial aid office reviews them with you before enrollment rather than leaving you to estimate.

I have been out of school for fifteen years. Is that a problem?

It is closer to the norm than the exception here. Most Borough Park applicants are adults returning after a long gap, which is why the programs run on scheduled class hours and supervised practice rather than independent study.

Which program leads to work fastest?

Phlebotomy and EKG is the shortest, though it is a single skill and no aid applies.
